Salary: £38,265 - £50,539 depending on skills and experience + car allowance

Due to continued growth we are looking for a Contract Manager to join our Strategic Investment 5HUG Team based in our prestigious new premises in Reading, One Forbury Place, conveniently located in Reading town centre. This new location offers new flexibility in the way we work, and with this in mind, this role can be carried out splitting time between the office and either your home or another SSEN location.
The 500 Overhead line to underground (5HUG) scheme is a named RIIO ED1 OFGEM scheme, to underground 500KM of overhead line assessed to be at risk of customer interruptions caused by adverse weather or interference cause by trees and branches. As a Contract manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the management of large capital projects from initial high level scope, through detailed design and costing into the construction and closure phases. This will include managing the contractor, contract management, Quality Assurance, Quantity surveying and contract tender management.
A minimum HNC in a relevant subject is preferred, in addition to experience in this field with a DNO or a supplier to the industry. A knowledge of Project Management methodology would be advantageous. Experience and good understanding of NEC 3 Conditions needed.
You should be commercially astute with demonstrable experience delivering large projects, you will have extensive experience in working with and managing contracting partners. Previous experience in applying the Construction Design, and Management Regulations 2015 to technically complex projects would be beneficial. You will be required to manage the Delivery Partner, contract management, Quality Assurance and Quantity surveying contract and tender management; therefore, the ability to thrive under pressure is essential.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital and you should be comfortable liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will be comfortable delivering within challenging timescales and be able to effectively prioritize, plan and balance immediate and long term business priorities. A focus on long term development, and the ability to identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements is encouraged.
