Programme and Service Development Manager (12 month contract, Maternity Cover)

SSE Enterprise Telecoms

Location: Reading

Salary: £36,500 - £55,000 depending on skills and experience, plus excellent benefits

SSE Enterprise Telecoms we operate a 13,700km private telecoms network and an estate of 15 data centres that span the UK. We provide a complete outsourced telecoms service to the SSE group to support its 8 million customer accounts and to provide critical national infrastructure to a wide range of energy assets.

Due to Maternity leave we have an opportunity for a Programme and Service Development Manager to join us on a 12 month contract. Within this role your key focus will be to lead the co-ordination, resource allocation and reporting of the overall programme of new products or product enhancements to meet marketing requirements and enable the launch of new revenue generating services.  You’ll define and own the specific project plans and, based on these, work across the entire business and co-ordinate the resources, costs and tasks to meet defined objectives.

You should be able to demonstrate experience in telecommunications programme management and/or project management – specifically Devops environments with SDN/NFV/IP VPN/Data product exposure favoured. You’ll have in depth knowledge of the programme management function, certifications, running virtual and matrix managed teams within the telecoms/software industries. In addition, awareness of Agile/Scrum development cycles and the ability to introduce these practices to a ‘traditional’ telecommunications business would be an advantage.

You’ll have in depth understanding of the systems, networks, supply chain and supplier management required to create, run and deliver programme management in a virtualised telecommunications environment. You will have a demonstrable experience of delivery of complex programmes and successful budget management.

You should possess excellent attention to detail combined with a strong understanding of matrix team management, product development models and business transformation. In addition you’ll have strong project management and product delivery experience, plus exceptional analytical, writing and presentation skills.

The successful candidate will be a results-driven self starter, with strong commercial acumen and a proven track record of leading a large virtual team.

In return, we offer a competitive salary package and excellent routes for career progression within the SSE Group. You will also enjoy excellent performance incentives, pension, share plans, a generous leave entitlement (with options to purchase additional leave), staff energy, phone and broadband tariffs, plus a host of other rewards and lifestyle benefits.

The closing date for applications is 18th December 2017.

The successful candidate will be subject to the Company’s verification and vetting process. This includes a basic criminal records check.
