SSE operates a Fleet of ~8500 cars/vans and over 1000 items of plant equipment across the UK. SSE also manages its own employee travel arrangements due to the complexity of its emergency infrastructure commitments. 

As Fleet and Travel Development Manager, you will develop and support with delivering the long term plans for Fleet and Travel by benchmarking, creating and delivering best practice and improvement plans to ensure that SSE are best in class, meeting all objectives. You will ensure that the team are up to date on all relevant obligations, ensuring that the Fleet and Travel teams deploy change to meet changing requirements. Acting as a champion for the strategic change agenda for Fleet and Travel, you will ensure that SSE is always contemporary and up to date. Additionally, in conjunction with the Head of Fleet and Travel, you will review all changes in the industry, business, governmental, legal and environmental, ensure that SSE has a plan in place to meet all best practice requirements advising on resolution and management of any complex areas of change or regulation involving the teams. Acting as a business expert, you will use your knowledge to provide support to Managers across the group on understanding legal, tax, safety, and FCA requirements.

 

To excel at this role, you will have a detailed knowledge of regulated business, fleet management and ideally have a consultancy or fleet operations background. You should have a good knowledge of the Fleet environment and relevant processes, as well as the financial aspects of fleet, including impacts on taxation, capital, depreciation and employee remuneration. Knowledge of the employee travel industry would also be beneficial in order to identify and deliver specific efficiency focussed projects in this area.

 

You will be a strategic thinker with change leadership and analytical skills, such as Lean or Six Sigma. You should have strong business comprehension, with the ability to research and simplify what is needed for the future, including drafting key presentations, papers and financial data.
