Job Title: Telecomms Asset Manager

Location: Flexible; Reading, Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness

Salary: £48,121– £ 63,551 depending on skills and experience

Permanent | Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week

Our Role

Your role will support the Asset Management of the Networks Business communication systems ensuring the satisfactory performance of the system and continuous improvement of processes to find ways to reduce risk and balance cost. You’ll work closely with key internal stakeholders to deliver a robust communications solution that facilitates the safe operation of the Electricity Networks while maintaining system integrity.

You will be a technical expert in your field and represent SSEN as a key stakeholder and primary consultant for future communication requirements within the industry. You will work closely with stakeholders within the SSEN business to developing and reviewing business cases for communications projects to be presented to the Board, assessing various options and analysing the most beneficial cost v risk solutions. Your role will be pivotal at ensuring the communications systems adhere to SSEN and industry wide compliance and regulation.

 

Your Skills and Experience

Ideally you will hold a Degree level qualification in Electronics Engineering or another related discipline; previous industry experience and an understanding of governance applied to safety critical engineering processes is essential with a thorough understanding of Risk Assessment and mitigation processes.

You’ll have a good theoretical and practical understanding of telecommunication systems and will have a working knowledge in multiple systems and associated architecture in some or all of the following; Microwave, Fibre, Data Networking, TSAT, VSAT, Scanning Radio, LTE, PMR, GPRS, PDH/SDH Mux, meshed networks and identifying other technologies that can facilitate a smooth transition to Distribution System Operator model.

You will have the ability to develop and implement engineering strategy with a proven record of implementing new ideas and be comfortable presenting complex technical information and documents in an easy to understand format to a variety of audiences. You’ll be commercially astute with an understanding of the cost versus risk profile for Customer Interruptions & Customer Minutes Lost.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role with the ability to persuade and influence key internal stakeholders to do the right thing for Networks and the wider SSE. You’ll be a team player who is motivated and driven to succeed.
