Job Title: Data Protection Analyst - Networks

Salary: £27,133 - £35,837 depending on skills and experience
Permanent | Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week
We are looking to recruit a Data Protection Analyst to join our Networks Customer Assurance team to play a pivotal role in ensuring the Networks Business is compliant with GDPR.
Reporting to the Head of Customer Assurance, you will work across all areas of the Networks Business supporting the Data Protection Specialist Representative to ensure that key Networks Data Protection processes are implemented consistently and effectively, including on-going training and awareness and maintaining evidence to demonstrate on-going compliance with GDPR, such as preparation of management information and reports.
Your principle focus will be the management of the Data Protection Incident and Subject Access Requests processes, liaising with all areas of the business to investigate and respond against challenging timescales in line with GDPR requirements. You will also interact with a range of stakeholders across the business, including Group Legal Data Protection to ensure that data protection risks are understood and that effective and compliant control mechanisms are in place to manage those risks.
Your Skills and Experience
To enable you to get the most from your role and ensure that our internal and external customers receive the highest level of service, you should have a good working knowledge of the Data Protection Act (1998) and relevant forthcoming legislation (GDPR), including in depth knowledge of the management of subject access requests and data protection breaches. You should have a good understanding of how a Networks business operates, in particular the variety and extent of Networks operations, processes and documentation involving personal data; knowledge of internal auditing would also be advantageous.
You’ll have excellent verbal and written communication skills including a high standard of report writing and communicating effectively with customers. As this role will involve dealing with all levels across the business you should have the ability to build effective and engaging relationships. You will be very well organised with the ability to prioritise your workload and deliver within very tight deadlines. Strong problem solving skills and the ability to influence the implementation of effective improvements to control environment are essential, including the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and understandable format.
This role may also require travel to various locations therefore a flexible approach to work within a dynamic working environment is required.
At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.
The Customer Assurance team provides robust oversight/challenge and monitoring of day to day operations to provide assurance to business unit management that their customer facing operations meet expected standards, are compliant and risks are effectively mitigated. The team also provide proactive assurance support and consultancy to business improvement activities to mitigate key risks. The Customer Assurance team is also responsible for ensuring that the Networks business is compliant with relevant Data Protection legislation including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force in May 2018.
