Reporting to the HV Manager you’ll be responsible for identifying and developing sustainable HV business opportunities, focusing on new and existing HV contract customers. In addition, you will assist with designing, estimating, planning and managing the delivery of associated work contracts. You will also provide a consistent workflow and optimise the profit contribution to the business and ensure all safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements are met.

You’ll prepare accurate estimates of net cost for HV work to enable others to develop commercial pricing and presentation. Above all you’ll always practice and promote a positive safety culture which is our number one value at SSE.  With excellent attention to detail, you’ll issue construction drawings and schematic drawings as required to complete installations. You will ensure HV/EHV construction projects meet the design specification, making recommendations to customers and colleagues on the most efficient maintenance of HV/EHV networks and equipment

Skills Required

As an experienced HV Engineer, you’ll have an excellent understanding of electrical safety procedures and will be able to confidently advise others on their correct application.  You will have sound HV and LV electrical knowledge and will be familiar with all Suspension of Operational Practice, Dangerous Incident Notifications and National Defect Reports.

The successful applicant will need an electrical background encompassing a range of contracting activities and be able to demonstrate commercial acumen and enthusiasm to help grow our business. You will have the ability to identify, quote and manage HV contracts and will be able to negotiate with clients to secure profitable business.  You should also be able to apply financial and budgetary controls so that maximum profit is received, whilst managing quality, safety and planning of the work.  You will be required to have a working knowledge of the CDM regulations, in addition to general office applications including MS Project and be committed to continuous improvement.
