Job Title: Process Improvement Manager

Salary: £36,900 – £56,500 depending on skills and experience + annual bonus

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available

The Role

This is a senior role responsible for identifying areas for tangible improvement and addressing these with visible results in terms of efficiencies, quality and minimised costs and waste. In addition the role is central to our programme for developing and monitoring a sustainable Continuous Improvement capability across customer Sales and Service functions.

The core responsibilities for this role will be to find future opportunities for improvement such as Kaizens with short-term fixes and formal projects which will require more time and investment. In doing so you’ll effectively develop a future business benefits pipeline and related business cases for those improvement opportunities. You will be accountable for developing new process improvement capabilities which will include the recruitment and training of suitable staff. You’ll also be accountable for the development of the process improvement methodology and embedding this within the business.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring improvements are executed at high levels of quality using the Lean Six Sigma improvement methodology and achieve the benefits set out in the business case and to do so you’ll continually monitor and track key KPIs. Additionally, you will take a broad view to ensure the change Initiatives and their dependencies are aligned with other change projects in related business areas.

Your Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Management Science or Operations Research or related and will have organisational awareness with the ability to operate with confidence and credibility across all functions of the organisation. You will have an excellent understanding of business change methodologies such as and business change implementation methods such as MSP, APM and Prince2, and ideally be certified green belt in Lean Six Sigma.

You’ll also have a proven track record of delivering large business change projects and in benefit realisation and tracking. This should include having been accountable for ensuring the recording and tracking of any changes to the end to end process design along with accountability for renewing and understanding external best practices; changes in technology and ways of working. An understanding of organisational structure and end-to-end process is also essential. Furthermore, knowledge of utilities processes and related legislation and regulations would be advantageous but not essential. Experience in a similar industry would also be considered.

Your softer skills should include your ability to foster strong relationships through collaborative working with the business and stakeholders. You will be comfortable managing areas of conflict to resolution and feel comfortable delivering under a degree of pressure at times. You should have previous leadership experience through having previously developed and managed a high performing team.
