Salary: £35,147 - £46,418 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance

Permanent | Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week

Our Role

The Thames Valley Region, Network Construction Team, is part of the SSEN Distribution South Business responsible for the delivery of Capital investment projects and maintenance of HV and EHV networks.  Thames Valley covers the geographical area along the M4 corridor from Newbury to West London and provides power to nearly 900,000 businesses and homes.

We are looking for an Automation Technician to join our Network Construction Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the Regions 11kV automation schemes are delivered to time and budget under its capital delivery programme. This will include the commissioning of new schemes and rectification of defects on our existing network infrastructure. You’ll work closely with the wider Network Construction team and interface with other SSEN departments and Contractors to deliver programmes safely and effectively.

 

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful, you’ll have previous experience working on Power Networks and a minimum HNC qualification linked to Electrical, Telecoms or Power Systems. You’ll have previous experience working on Network Automation Schemes and a sound knowledge of 11kV plant and equipment used for Power Distribution networks. An understanding of Real Time Systems interfaces, DNO authorisations for 11kV switching and/or Senior authorisation status would be preferred but training can be provided. 

You’ll have a high regard for safety, embedding yourself in our safety culture and adhering to guidelines in everything you do. Outstanding customer relationship skills and a commitment to providing high-level service at all times is essential, you’ll have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working alongside different internal and external teams.
