SSE IT

SSE IT underpins the technology needs of all the different businesses that make up the SSE group. From emerging technologies to data and analytics to cyber security – we power SSE’s growth and enable it to generate value, while keeping it secure. As a trusted business partner that helps SSE lead in a low carbon world, we are proud of our service. Working for SSE IT is all about equipping SSE for now and the future.

Our Role

With the increasing cyber risk to companies such as SSE, operating Critical National Infrastructure and managing highly confidential information, we need to ensure we maintain key controls to stay secure and compliant and to understand and manage the risks such businesses face.

As we grow the CRIS team to provide cyber risk and information security services as a trusted advisor to our SSE business, this operational role will be key to sustaining the existing security event triage and remedial actions required to reduce the impact or likelihood of a security incident. You’ll be part of a team responsible for identifying risks, vulnerabilities and security incidents, including advanced attack methodologies and managing them to an acceptable risk level.

You’ll actively exploit existing vulnerabilities and identify potential threats; both within the corporate environment as well as from external attack infrastructures. This includes reporting on our security control effectiveness and exceptions for the SSE Group.

You may also have the opportunity to support on baseline security controls for IT projects and to cover as deputy SOC manager as required.

Your Skills and Experience

As a CRIS professional, you’ll have advanced education in computer science, information systems or other related field alongside significant work experience in a busy security operations centre. You’ll ideally have professional security management certification, such as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) or similar supporting credentials.

You will have offensive experience which will position you to actively exploit existing vulnerabilities and identify potential threats to SSE.

To perform successfully as a senior CRIS professional, you’ll also have excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on customer service. With great communications and stakeholder engagement, you’ll also demonstrate the ability to effectively manage your priorities within a heavy workload.

Candidates who do not have the level of technical experience required for a Senior Analyst, may be considered as an Analyst at £44195 - £58371.

We all take pride in a job well done and share the belief that an inclusive culture is key to our success and vision for the future. Passionate about people and proud of our award-winning customer service, we go to great lengths to extend these values to our employees. This enables our diverse workforce the flexibility and opportunity of developing to their full potential. Above all, safety is at the heart of everything we do at SSE and we live by the mantra ‘if it’s not safe, we don’t do it’.
