12-month Fixed Term Contract | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week

Our Role

Our Strategic Investment Team carry out the design, construction, and maintenance of capital investment and customer connection work in the southern licence area on the electricity network from 11kV to 132kV. We have an exciting opportunity for a CAD Engineer to join our team supporting the design and construction of electrical projects on the distribution network involving overhead line, underground cable and electrical substation work.

As CAD Engineer, you will be responsible for the production of plans, elevations, assembly layouts, operation diagrams, schematic and wiring diagrams and other protection drawings. You'll also have responsibility for the production of cable layouts, trench section details and material schedules.

You’ll work closely with various key stakeholders including Designers and Project Managers based throughout the UK so it is important you are able to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients.

 

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will ideally have an engineering background and will be familiar with AutoCAD software. SSE is currently developing 3D modelling supported by Autodesk software including Revit and Vault, knowledge of this software would be an advantage.

You’ll be highly organised, self-motivated and flexible with the ability to manage and prioritise various projects simultaneously to meet demanding deadlines. You will have the skills to work in an environment that is passionate about safety, innovation, teamwork and excellence.
