Salary: £39,413 – £52,055 depending on skills and experience

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week

The Role

If you are highly inquisitive, excited by opportunities of solving problems which can make big differences for smart metering, and enjoys studying relationships between data then this role could be for you.

As a Data Scientist within SSE’s Metering and Smart Transformation business (MaST), you’ll be responsible for shaping and executing data analysis to provide business intelligence for the Smart Metering operation, to enhance performance, improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Additionally, you’ll work closely with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, gain support, and contribute to projects to convert insight into business benefit.

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful, you will have an in-depth experience of: Statistical modelling, SQL, CRISP – DM, supervised and unsupervised machine learning development, data modelling, data munging, probabilistic analysis method.

You should also proficient on the following: Data Analytic platform, such as AWS, Azure; Statistical tooling, such as Microsoft R Open, Sage Maker; Data Visualisation, such as Tableau, Power BI.

An understanding of the following would be beneficial: Optimisation Algorithm (GA, PSO); CHAID and C5.0; Linear / Logistic Regression; Clustering techniques (K-Means, Kohonen); Cross-sectional and time series analysis and Relational Database Analytics. It will be advantageous if you have experience on Agile Project Management; Information Management Framework; Data Management Principles and Data Governance best practices.
