Salary:  £35,147 - £46,418 depending on skills and experience plus car/car allowance

The Role

The Environment & Stakeholder Team perform a key role within Renewable Operations in ensuring that all our environmental obligations are appropriately implemented and maintained.

The Environmental Advisor will be responsible for ensuring Renewable Generation sites in their designated region are operating in compliance with legal and planning obligations, as well as industry standards  This will require implementation and monitoring of planning conditions, recommended mitigation measures, and management practices such as COSHH, waste management, emergency response and Controlled Activitiy Regulations (CAR).

They shall also have responsibility for coordinating and project managing the delivery of habitat management works, environmental monitoring, reporting and revisions of post construction environmental monitoring regimes. 

In addition, they will be responsible for the production of technical summary reports and reporting on regional site activities to the Environment and Stakeholder Manager.

They shall also play a key role in managing external stakeholders ensuring the interests of SSE Renewable Operations are protected and professional relationships are maintained and enhanced.

Your Skills & Experience

 - Degree in a land management or ecology related discipline (or relevant experience)

 - Experience in land/estate and/or fisheries management

 - Hydrology – flood/catchment management

 - Biodiversity project management

 - Budgetary management

 - Experience of ISO 14001 and internal auditing

Furthermore, you will enjoy interacting with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including regulators, planning authorities, landowners, fisheries boards, conservation bodies and 3rd parties.  You will be able to demonstrate excellent negotiating skills and experience managing contractors.  You will also bring experience of coordinating stakeholder groups, meetings and events and using information gained to aid continuous improvement and further develop stakeholder relationships.

Experience in wind generation and/or hydro generation is preferred but not essential.
