The Role

Within the System Development team, you will be responsible for assisting with the technical and operational development of our Distribution Management System. You will also assist the wider business as a technical expert, considering all aspects of System Operation to ensure that our systems are effective.

Currently, the main focus of the role is the rollout of network automation schemes as our field engineers install new plant. However, over the coming years, there are a number of new systems and upgrades approaching, and a flexible and innovative approach will be the key to maximising the benefits they can deliver.

You will be expected to develop to a high level of commissioning ability and SCADA system knowledge, alongside progressing towards Control Engineer authorisation. As part of the Control Centre team, you will also be expected to assist during severe weather or large scale events, which may require a level of response in excess of normal business commitments.

Your Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will currently be working within a technical role in the electricity industry and hold a minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline. In addition you will have a range of Distribution Operations and/or technical knowledge of the electricity distribution network and have field experience to SAP level.

You’ll be a great team worker and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen eye for detail. Having excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work accurately and independently is essential. You’ll be motivated to learn in your role, and look to work within the team to provide expertise and process improvement suggestions where possible.
