SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors. Our product range and activities are diverse in both the private and public sectors and we are an important division of SSE PLC a FTSE 100 Company who operate as one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK with around 10 million customers, across our various brands.

Due to ongoing growth and contract wins, we currently have an opportunity for a Senior Bid Manager working within the Sales, Marketing and Operations teams in pursuit of Mechanical and Electrical prospects in excess of £3m.  This will be achieved through the creation of compelling, compliant and cost efficient tender responses ensuring all safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements are fully met.

This is a key role as you will be fully responsible for managing bids under your control, from qualification through to submission.  This will involve planning, managing, coordinating, preparing and submitting the bids assigned to you, whilst adhering to all Bid Management process and Governance requirements.  You will be expected to identify innovative and effective business improvements and have the initiative and readiness to make effective decisions.

Your Skills and Experience

Significant previous experience in best practice Bid Management is vital, including experience of bid planning; content planning based on motivators, hot buttons and win themes; corporate governance, colour reviews; and the production and submission of compelling submissions that are priced-to-win.  As such, you must have a demonstrable track record in winning new business with leading national or regional M&E contractors, as well as extensive experience of bids in excess of £3m.

You will possess demonstrable leadership skills to drive the work of collaborative virtual teams in planning, designing, producing and submitting high quality tender responses.  Strong partnership values and behaviours with assertive and persuasive interpersonal skills allied to an ability to quickly build a rapport with senior colleagues across functions and/or product-lines.  You should be highly confident in the use of Microsoft Office, ADOBE etc. software combined with excellent technical writing skills and the experience of generating compelling proposal content.

As an individual you will be a motivated self-starter with a positive attitude to overcoming obstacles to solve cross-business challenges.  You should be organised with excellent time management skills, a confident communicator with enhanced active listening skills and have the ability and agility to work efficiently and effectively in multi-functional and multi–skilled teams.  A successful track record of operating across multiple product lines to generate integrated installation and service solutions for large public and private sector accounts would be desirable.

In this role you will be expected to work to a flexible schedule with occasional overnight travel. You must have a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel as required to meet business needs.
