Our Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Electrical Fitter to join our Oxford Depot. This group has a major role in the existing RIIOED1 and soon to come RIIOED2 compliance initiatives, working to get the Company`s plant network to comply with current and future regulatory rules. We have challenging targets to complete each year and are looking to bring in new talent to our already skilled and motivated workforce to deal with the challenges that the network presents to us.

In this role you’ll be involved in all maintenance aspects of our electricity underground electrical plant up to and including 33,000v. The role can be demanding and involve work in all weather conditions. Safety is a key priority at SSE and throughout everything you do, you will adhere to safety policies and procedures.

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful you'll have working experience on our electricity network and preferably have both LV, HV and EHV experience of Substation plant maintenance. 33kV Senior Authorisation (SAP ) to include Permit to work would be extremely useful. Although not essential, this role will require the commitment to develop these skills in a timely manner. You will need to have a high regard for safety with strong customer service skills. Excellent communication skills are essential to this role as we deal with customer related issues face to face daily, and good service allows us to achieve our broader measure requirements and targets. A clean driving licence and flexible approach to working hours and work location is a must. A Towing licence and NRSWA ticket would be beneficial.

The minimum requirements for the job at grade 4 (£24,923- £32,919) are as detailed above. In addition, candidates who have SAP authorisation will be considered for the role at grade 5 (£27,947- £36,912).

Our Company

Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
