Job title:     Renewables Accountant
Location:   Perth/Glasgow (if Glasgow based then travel to Perth 1 to 2 days per week initially)
Salary:        £31,500 to £47,900 plus bonus (depending on experience)
Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available

Our Role
We have an excellent opportunity to be responsible for the accounting of a high-profile wind farm development within the Renewables business. The Renewables JV Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely execution of general accounting, period end closing, and reporting activities, and delivery of reporting information of our operation Joint Venture Assets to business management and wider Finance community in line with defined reporting protocols.

The Renewables Accountant will work with the rest of the Renewables Finance Team to provide updates on financial performance and provide additional insight through reporting and commentary as required. They will also interact with the Business as required to understand the impact of material transactions that will impact performance.

This is a varied, flexible and challenging role with primary responsibilities Including:
Period end close & reporting and timely review of mid-month and month end journals, applying expert knowledge of financial and management accounting in addition to a medium level of judgement, and communicating changes required.
Timely review of mid-month and month end reports applying strong commercial and industry knowledge.

Support the Finance Analyst in the preparation of supporting journal calculations for
P&L preparation & BS reconciliations and timely review P&L and BS control account reconciliations using judgement to highlight and investigate key and unexpected variances providing supporting commentary when required prior to review. 

Monitor and evaluate controls recommending improvements if required.

Responsible for Management and statutory reporting along with timely review of regulatory report pro-forma’s using knowledge of specific regulatory requirements.
Review of VAT return pro-forma prior to detailed review by Group Tax.

Budgeting & Forecasting & co-ordinating and consolidating the annual budget including stakeholder sign off, providing financial insight and challenge as necessary to ensure budgets are accurate and realistic.

Involved with continuous improvement and support the Renewables Finance Manager to identify and implement initiatives and opportunities e.g. process improvements.

Your skills and experience
Fully qualified accountant with experience in an operational finance or practice role with exposure to issues of similar complexity.
Effectively communicating financial performance to operational colleagues to embed financial understanding within the business.
Knowledge of current regulations including IFRS / new UK GAAP, Companies Acts, Regulatory Licences etc.
Knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures and of using financial models and reporting to external lenders would be beneficial
Adaptive to changing objectives and priorities to deliver results.
Focused on creating value for the Group.
Operational and commercial focus and excellent Technical skills including MS Office and Excel
Knowledge of ERP software (Oracle desirable)
