Our Role:

As a Quality Assurance & Support Engineer, you’ll work within an exciting, challenging and growing area of the SSE Enterprise business, leading on the development, implementation and monitoring of engineering and quality control practices in accordance with legal requirements, BS EN ISO 9001, industry good practice and company policies and procedures.

Your passion for quality will drive you to lead the co-ordination of engineering quality activities across both SSE Enterprise and our contractors, with the aim of ensuring a high standard of service throughout the project lifecycle. You'll ensure that our business units are aware of, and comply with, all statutory and contractual requirements for engineering work.

You'll pro-actively develop, and monitor compliance with Enterprise engineering procedures and processes, reporting to the Senior Leadership Team on outcomes, potential risks, and the progress of improvement activities. You will also play an instrumental role in proposing and leading the development and implementation of these improvement activities.

Ensuring that the performance of our contracted project services has been appropriately assessed against fit-for-purpose quality standards is very important to our business, and you will deploy an approach which ensures this. At SSE Enterprise, we want to generate a quality-focussed culture within each business unit. Your skills and personal working style will play a fundamental role in encouraging and enabling this. To understand what our customers really need and want from our business, and to develop suitable controls in order to ensure that we deliver, you will play a lead role in developing and implementing a "Client Insights Programme" for SSE Enterprise.

Your Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong knowledge of quality management and control systems in addition to a good understanding of all areas of the energy industry. You'll ideally have an understanding of the structure of the SSE Group, SSE Enterprise business, our customers, and our role within the industry. You'll possess a sound knowledge of typical construction project contracts (e.g. NEC 3, FIDIC) and be up to date in your awareness of electricity industry standards and specifications.

In addition, you'll be degree (or equivalent) qualified and have demonstrable experience in a relevant STEM subject. Or, Chartered Quality Institute related qualifications supplemented by extensive experience in this field and work type.

Further desirable attributes include:

- Strong process excellence skills

- Good personal project management skills

- A strong customer focus

- Significant experience in managing engineering, quality or assurance within a technical role for high-integrity, multi-disciplinary engineering projects within the energy or other high-integrity industries.

- Strong experience of the typical life-cycle of a complex project, from basic design to procurement to site commissioning and testing.

- Experience at working with, challenging, and improving engineering procedures, specifications, guidance and governance.

- Membership of a relevant professional body or association and demonstrating continual professional development.
