Job Title: Procurement & Commercial Manager (Maternity Cover)
Location: Glasgow or Perth
Salary: £51,100 to £77,300
Fixed Term Contract/ Full Time 37 hours

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Procurement & Commercial Manager in our P&C team aligned to Thermal Energy projects, you will be expected to manage procurement and post contract commercial requirements in SSE's Thermal Energy business.  This will include activity for Goods, Works and Services including a focus on high value complex EPC contracts. You will demonstrate value leadership, customer service and innovation to support the vision in becoming a world class provider of Procurement and Commercial services and embed a consistent approach to reduce the total cost of ownership by achieving targets set in this regard.
You will engage regularly with Lead Category Managers to ensure the wider function provides a co-ordinated, effective and efficient service to the business.

What do I need?

In addition to the above, you will have an understanding of the markets, support contracts, regions, commodities and services the businesses require.
You will support the development of project business cases, operational and commercial models and develop procurement strategies and incentives based on these to engage contractors who will deliver outcomes to meet the business needs.

You should also be:

MCIPS /MRICS/degree educated or have an equivalent direct entry to a recognised appropriate professional body and have previous experience in a similar role where you were responsible for procuring and managing contracts, managing suppliers and sub-contractors, and supplier vetting, development and management.
It is essential that you are proficient in the use of P2P procurement related systems and have experience of managing change requirements within organisations.
Due to your previous experience in an operational multifaceted business you will have an understanding of supply chain concepts and how to improve them.  Travel will be essential throughout the UK/Ireland.
Demonstrable stakeholder engagement and managements skills are essential, as is the ability to influence, lead and resolve disputes and problem solve. You will have excellent communication and presentation skills, strong commercial acumen, and a continuous improvement mind set.
