Location: Perth/Glasgow  ( if Glasgow based then travel to Perth is required on a regular basis)
Salary:  £44,195 - £58,371 plus an excellent benefits package

Permanent Full Time Hours with Flexible working patterns available – 37 hours per week

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Group Auditor - Financial & Commercial -  within the Group Audit function. As part of the SSE Group’s well-established internal audit team, you will operate in a dynamic work environment and act as a positive catalyst for change through providing constructive appraisal, insight and challenge. With support from senior management our multi-disciplined team encourage good conduct and standards, contributing directly to SSE achieving its objectives through the promotion of risk awareness and effective control.


Working closely with business managers and corporate functions you will take responsibility for planning and conducting a programme of independent value adding risk based internal audits, delivering executive level reports and agreeing effective plans for improvement throughout the organisation.


There will be opportunities to work agilely as well as work on special projects and reviews with opportunity to actively contribute to the continual development of internal audit procedures, planning processes and quality standards.
Senior Group Auditors advance themselves personally and professionally, as the experiences, variety and challenges of the role prepare successful candidates for career development both within the Group Audit function but also throughout the wider organisation. In this role you will gain exposure to senior management and to all SSE Group businesses. Whilst leading the more challenging audits and supporting the development of the function you will obtain a unique insight to the major risks and opportunities for the organisation and the key strategies, operations, and management processes which contribute to its on-going success.

Your Skills and Experience

We are looking for a fully qualified Accountant/Chartered Internal Auditor/  business professional with relevant post qualification experience. 

Well developed understanding of risk based auditing processes and risk management frameworks and Financial & Data analysis and interrogation capabilities.

Effective working knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures and proficient in MS Office applications (particularly Excel and Word)


Strong communication skills with a willingness to challenge processes in a constructive and analytical manner is essential, as are report writing skills. You will be well organised, flexible and have an ability to deliver within agreed timescales with assistance for further development in these areas also available.
