Our Role

The type of services the team provide include creation of bespoke descriptive analysis, creation of bespoke strategic analysis (including scenario modelling), creation of standard operational reports and key performance dashboards, anomaly detection, use of more advanced techniques such as predictive modelling and optimisation and supporting delivery of customer-facing marketing campaigns and communications.

In addition to the Business as Usual tasks, the team is expected to keep abreast of developments in the rapidly-changing data science domain, and to identify opportunities for these developments to generate value for the business.

Within the team, the role of the Data Analyst is to deliver required insights and assets (e.g. interactive dashboards, deployed models), to deliver required data wrangling outputs, analytics assets (models, statistical analysis), technical input (analytics infrastructure input) and procedural input (e.g. input into modelling framework used). For the assets being created, the Data Analyst acts as a key point of contact between the business and the analytics team.

Key Accountabilities

-Lead requirements gathering and document key functional and non-functional requirements of identified analytics assets e.g. predictive models, dashboards, etc. This is to ensure that the assets built meet the business need/solve the business problem

-Maintain, manage and enhance critical analytics assets for which the person has ownership (e.g. customer value model) to ensure that the assets are embedded in the business processes to deliver benefit.

-Develop new analyses, reports, dashboards and other insights delivered through the Business Intelligence End User interface to inform and support key business decisions and actions to deliver budget performance and incremental benefit.

-Develop new models and insights using analytics algorithms and techniques (machine learning, statistical analysis, classification, time series analysis, segmentation, etc.) to inform and support key business decisions and actions to deliver budget performance and incremental benefit.

-Support day to day delivery of customer-facing marketing campaigns and communications as required

-Develop own knowledge and advance knowledge in the team through participation in innovation projects with external alliance partners (e.g. Centre for Applied Data Analytics Research group in UCD

Your Skills and Experience

-Ideally BSc or above in quantitative field (Computer Science/ Applied Science/ Engineering/ Maths)

-Experience in a data analyst role which included the design, development, deployment, monitoring and management of reporting and dashboards with some exposure to more advanced analytics tools (e.g. models, insights) which generated tangible business benefit

-Demonstrated ability to transform data from disparate data sources into complex datasets

-Demonstrated ability to apply advanced analytical methods to complex datasets e.g. clustering, predictive modelling, classification problems, optimisation problems, time series analysis, statistical inference, association analysis

-Proven ability to develop and implement to a required standard e.g. use of standardised modelling approach, coding standards, etc.

-Proven interest in emerging technologies, techniques and applications of data science

-Understanding of core data warehousing/Business Technology required: RDBMS (SQL Server, --Oracle database, etc.)

-Highly skilled in database querying SQL, PLSQL and also in analytics tools R, Python, Matlab, including GUI-based tool(s) (SAS e-miner/SPSS/Oracle Data Miner/Rapidminer)

-Skilled in end user report, dashboard and key performance indicator/balanced scorecard creation – experience of Oracle Business Intelligence advantageous
